For most people, packing the luggage and buying things for travel is one of the most hated activities, but if you prepare yourself more efficiently, your sailing vacation will be more beautiful and enjoyable. As with any trip, it is also important for sailing to have a valid passport or identity card with you and a sailing license if you own one. We recommend that you do not wear large luggage on sailing because they are impractical and will take up a lot of space on board, so you can pack your stuff in smaller bags or even better backpacks.
Wondering what kind of clothes to take for sailing? It is important that you bring light, airy and light clothing with you and do not go over board with the amount because the storage space on the boat is limited. Just bring a pair of short sleeves t-shirts, a pair of summer shorts, bathing suits, underwear, and some formal outfits if you plan to dine in the local restaurants. Also, bring a light raincoat in case of rain or wind. Even though you will spend most of your time barefooted or in a flip-flops, take sneakers or shoes for when you go on land. Bed linen and towels are mostly included in the rental price of your sailing yacht but still bring your own beach towels. Personal hygiene things such as soap and shower gel are not included in the price so make sure you buy them on time. Although, most boats have a bimini top deck, it would be good to have a hat and sunglasses. Be sure to wear a sunscreen and a lip balm.
As far as food is concerned, we recommend that you buy food for a longer period of time and get enough drinking water. Nutritionists usually recommend eating light food during the summer. Buy local seasonal vegetables and fruits, cereals, pasta, fish and light meats such as chicken or turkey. And buying both snacks and sweets is suggested, especially if you are traveling to a sailing trip with kids. Everyday foods such as fresh bread, rolls and milk can be bought at stores in most Dalmatian places (marinas) where you can come with your sailing boat or yacht.
Of the other necessities and equipment, make sure that you have a mobile phone and a 12V car charger, as there are usually no 220V ports on board unless you are connected in the marina or in case the sailing yacht you have rented has an inverter or generator on board. To capture beautiful and fun sailing moments, take a waterproof camera. To kill boredom and produce more entertainment, it would also be good to pack social games or an interesting book.
